The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to discuss central contracts on March 30, 2025, during the IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia will meet head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar to finalize the contracts, which have been delayed this year. Traditionally, these announcements occur before the IPL season, but the BCCI opted to wait until after the Champions Trophy for a decision.
Reports indicate that the delay was partly due to Gambhir's unavailability for discussions. Despite this, preliminary inquiries about the contracts have been made through telephonic conversations with team management. There remains a lack of consensus among decision-makers regarding player retention in various contract categories.
Additionally, significant changes are anticipated in the support staff. While Gambhir and some new additions like Morne Morkel are likely to retain their positions, fielding coach T Dilip may be let go as part of a planned downsizing of the support team. The upcoming meeting is crucial for resolving these issues and determining the future of several players within the team structure.
