The captaincy of Team Pakistan, Captain Babar Azam, has come under severe scrutiny since the eight-wicket loss of Pakistan to Afghanistan in the Cricket World Cup 2023. With it, the Babar-led team suffered its third consecutive defeat in the ongoing tournament. It was a good start for Pakistan in the tournament with two victories in as many games, but the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team broke the Asian neighbour’s winning run before the side also suffered defeats at the hands of Australia and then Afghanistan. Babar has been at the receiving end of all the backlash.
In the middle of the ongoing criticism of the captaincy of Babar Azam, former pacer Shane Bond picked the captain of the Netherlands, Scott Edwards, before Babar when he was asked to pick the 'ODI World Cup captain' between the two.
