An inspired bowling performance from the Brisbane Heat at the SCG has seen them win their first BBL title in 11 years

After losing to the Sixers just days earlier, the Brisbane Heat were out for revenge but got off to a shaky start with the bat in hand. Losing a wicket in the first over sent worries into the Heat sheds, but a solid partnership from Nathan McSweeney and Josh Brown steadied the ship.

Although it wasn’t the flashiest of innings from the Heat, a late surge saw the visitors tally up a respectable 166 runs. The Sixers started off slow and lost a crucial wicket in the first over, with Daniel Hughes being caught in the slips on just his second ball.
Despite showing signs of life throughout the top order, a handful of easy catches to the elite Heat fieldman continued to plague the Sixers’ chances.
The wickets began to flow in the middle stages of the Sixers’ innings, and it wasn’t long before a Heat victory was all but secured. Brisbane claimed the victory with three overs to spare and secured the franchise’s second BBL championship.
