Akash Madhwal's fifer propels Mumbai to an 81-run victory against Lucknow

Mumbai Indians defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs in the IPL 2023 Eliminator at Chepauk on Wednesday, led by Akash Madhwal's spectacular bowling performance. Madhwal took five wickets in 3.3 overs as Lucknow was bowled out for 101 in 16.3 overs during the 183-run chase. Mumbai will now face the reigning champions Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 at home. Apart from Madhwal's precise performance, sloppy running between the wickets plagued Lucknow during the difficult run chase. Marcus Stoinis, who struck 40 off 27 balls - the highest score from the LSG camp - as well as Deepak Hooda and Krishnappa Gowtham were run-out.Earlier, Nehal Wadhera's late blitz of 23 off 12 balls helped Mumbai Indians put up a formidable 182/8 in 20 overs. Mumbai batted first and lost Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan early on, but Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green kept the side on course. The two put up 66 runs for the third wicket until Naveen-ul-Haq wrecked Mumbai's celebration in the 11th over. Yash Thakur took three wickets, while the Afghan pacer took four.
