Ahead of the WC Finals, Anil Kumble says, "The combination of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer has worked really well"

Former captain of Indian cricket team Anil Kumble said the combination of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer has worked really well for India in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. India is ready to face Australia in the final of the 2023 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19.
While speaking, Kumble said Iyer has played a significant role in helping Kohli build partnerships in the middle overs in this World Cup. Kohli and Iyer are among the top-scoring batters in the World Cup, with Kohli topping the charts with 711 runs in 10 matches at an average of 101.57.
“Shreyas Iyer has played a very significant role in how Virat Kohli has built partnerships in the middle-overs. He scored a hundred at a very good strike rate in the semi-final, and KL Rahul also chipped in with a quick-fire knock,” said Kumble.
He further added that “these guys know what their strengths are and what role they need to play. That combination has worked really well. He has been consistently performing his role of making sure he occupies the crease for 50 overs. He has been very good with his running between the wickets and how he builds his innings.”
