Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, Jos Buttler and Shaheen Afridi take giant leaps in the T20I rankings

Players from the Pakistan cricket team, along with West Indies and England, have made significant strides in the final update of the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings before the 2024 T20 World Cup. Despite some matches in England’s home series against Pakistan being disrupted by bad weather, players from both sides have managed to climb the rankings just days before the tournament kicks off in the West Indies and the USA. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav of team India will enter the T20 World Cup as the No. 1 ranked T20I batter, and England’s Adil Rashid will begin the tournament as the No. 1 ranked T20I bowler.
For England, captain Jos Buttler has climbed one spot to seventh in the T20I batter rankings, thanks to his impressive innings of 84 in Birmingham. Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow has made a significant leap, moving up eight places to 36th following his knock of 21 in the same match.
On the bowler’s front for England, Reece Topley has improved by one spot to ninth. From Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman was the top scorer in that match, and his quickfire 45 off just 21 deliveries has propelled him up six spots to 51st in the T20I batter rankings. The Pakistan bowling attack also saw notable improvements. Shaheen Afridi rose three places to equal 11th, Haris Rauf climbed two spots to 25th, and ImadWasim jumped 14 places to 38th after their recent performances with the ball.
