Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, injury concerns plague India

In IPL 2024, fitness concerns have significantly increased. This is especially important for the stars of India that will travel to the USA and Caribbean for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. But heading into the tournament, the Men in Blue don’t look 100% fit.

The latest addition to the list is India skipper Rohit Sharma. The former Mumbai Indians skipper didn’t field and was used as an impact player by Hardik Pandya in the MI vs. KKR clash. After the match, Piyush Chawla claimed, “He just had a mild back stiffness, so it was just a precautionary thing.”
Not just Rohit Sharma; there are quite a few players in the team who are not 100% fit ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup. One such name is Suryakumar Yadav. The World Number 1 T20I batter hasn’t been fielding regularly for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. This is mainly due to the fact that he is regaining 100% fitness.
Another name that comes to mind is Shivam Dube. The destructive southpaw got injured and missed the latter stages of the Ranji Trophy. For the Chennai Super Kings, Dube is mainly used as a finisher under the Impact Player rule. This has greatly reduced his bowling abilities.
