Gujarat Titans have appointed former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel as their assistant and batting coach for IPL 2025. Patel will join head coach Ashish Nehra in the support staff, stepping in after Gary Kirsten departed to become Pakistan’s white-ball coach following IPL 2024. Patel, who was part of Mumbai Indians’ scouting team for the past four years, brings a wealth of experience from his playing days, having scored 2848 runs at a strike rate of 120.78 in the IPL.
The move mirrors Hardik Pandya’s switch to Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024, as both franchises continue to shuffle key personnel. Gujarat Titans are aiming for a fresh start in IPL 2025, having retained key players like captain Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharasan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan. However, the team faces a challenge, having released notable names such as David Miller, Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma, and AzmatullahOmerzai.
With Rs 69 crore remaining in their purse, GT heads into the IPL 2025 auction looking to strengthen several areas, particularly new openers, a stable middle order, and an entirely revamped pace attack. Patel’s appointment is part of a support staff that now includes several former Indian players.
