Jofra Archer’s IPL 2025 campaign started disastrously, with the England pacer conceding a record-breaking 76 runs in his four-over spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This performance marked the most expensive spell in IPL history, surpassing Mohit Sharma’s previous record of 73 runs in 2024. However, Archer has since bounced back spectacularly. After conceding 109 runs in his first two matches, he regained form with a fiery spell against Punjab Kings, taking 3/25. On Wednesday, Archer showcased his trademark pace and venom against Gujarat Titans. He bowled a sensational delivery to dismiss GT captain Shubman Gill, hitting a good length and nipping the ball back to shatter Gill’s stumps. His sharp initial spell kept GT openers under pressure, earning praise from former IPL star Dale Steyn.
Archer’s resurgence is promising for England ahead of their five-match Test series against India post-IPL. With improved fitness and rhythm, he remains a key figure in England’s pace attack, aiming to exploit home conditions against top Indian batsmen like Gill.
