After the World Cup defeat, Rohit Sharma leaves for South Africa to resume Indian duties

On Friday, December 15, Rohit Sharma left for South Africa to represent India in the two-match Test series. The 36-year-old is set to resume national duties almost a month after his team lost to Pat Cummins’ Australia in the final of the 2023 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rohit isn’t a part of the ongoing white-ball series for Team India. However, he is the skipper of the Test team for the series, scheduled to get underway on Tuesday, December 26 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.

Earlier, Rohit opened up on the heartbreaking defeat of team India in the final in front of a packed house in Ahmedabad. He admitted that the loss was ‘not easy to digest’ by any stretch of the imagination.

Rohit said, "I had no idea how to come back from this. I had no clue what to do. My family and friends kept me going and kept things pretty light around me, which was quite helpful. It was not easy to digest, but life moves on, and you have to move on. Honestly, it was tough, and it was not so easy to move on.”
