After successful treatment, ‘Fully fit’ Vinod Kambli discharged from hospital

Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli was discharged from Akruti Hospital in Bhiwandi, Thane, on January 1 after a two-week treatment for health issues, including a urinary infection and blood clots in his brain. The 52-year-old walked out of the hospital around 4 PM IST, donning a Team India jersey and wielding a bat, which quickly went viral on social media.

During his discharge, Kambli urged the public to avoid alcohol and narcotic drugs, emphasizing that such vices can ruin lives. Dr.Vivek Trivedi, who treated him, declared Kambli “completely fit” but advised him to take certain precautions moving forward. Kambli expressed gratitude to his supporters and stated he is not ready to leave cricket, recalling his past achievements with pride.

Kambli has faced ongoing health challenges, including two heart surgeries in 2013. Recently, he was seen at an event honoring his childhood coach, RamakantAchrekar, alongside Sachin Tendulkar, where his frail appearance raised concerns among fans. In light of his struggles, notable figures like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev have offered their support.
