After starring vs Pakistan, 16-year-old Uncapped Player joins MI for Rs 1.6 cr

Mumbai Indians made headlines by signing 16-year-old Tamil Nadu all-rounder G Kamalini for an impressive Rs 1.6 crore during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 mini-auction held in Bengaluru. Initially starting at a base price of Rs 10 lakh, Kamalini sparked a bidding war between Mumbai and Delhi Capitals, ultimately leading to her acquisition by MI.

Kamalini is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Indian cricket, having recently excelled in the U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy, where she scored 311 runs in eight matches and played a crucial role in leading Tamil Nadu to victory. Her explosive batting style was on display as she hit 10 sixes during the tournament. Additionally, she impressed in the U-19 tri-series final against South Africa, scoring 79 runs for India ‘B’.

In addition to Kamalini, Mumbai Indians secured South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk for her base price of Rs 30 lakh. The auction also saw significant bids for other players, including West Indies’ DeandraDottin, who was signed for Rs 1.7 crore by Gujarat Giants, and Simran Shaikh, who fetched Rs 1.9 crore from Gujarat after a competitive bidding process.

Kamalini’s versatility as a left-handed batter and part-time spinner enhances her value to both Mumbai Indians and the Indian U-19 team, where she is expected to make a significant impact in upcoming tournaments.
