After New Zealand fold for 235, Rohit, Jaiswal make confident start

Spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar led India's bowling attack, taking nine wickets between them as they bowled out New Zealand for 235 on day one of the third Test in Mumbai. After electing to bat, New Zealand struggled to build momentum despite a solid 71 from Will Young and a fighting 82 from Daryl Mitchell. The Kiwis' innings lasted 65.4 overs, ending in the final session.

Jadeja, the star of the day, claimed figures of 4/53 in 17 overs. He broke the key partnership by dismissing Young for 71 and sent Tom Blundell back for a duck two balls later. Jadeja also bowled Glenn Phillips for 17, playing a pivotal role in reducing New Zealand to 192/6 by tea.

Washington Sundar also contributed effectively, taking 2/50 in 13 overs, including two important wickets in the first session, putting New Zealand under pressure early on. Pacer Akash Deep provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Devon Conway for 4.

Mitchell stood strong, scoring a resilient 53 not out at tea, as wickets tumbled around him. However, the rest of the New Zealand batting lineup struggled to support him, leaving India in control at the end of day one.
