After Molestation Allegations by Sapna Gill, DC shows no faith in Mumbai Batsman in the IPL 2023

There seems to be no relief for Prithvi Shaw both on and off the field, as after molestation allegations by social media influencer Sapna Gill against him, the Delhi Capitals batter is no longer interested in taking him in their playing XI. The right-hand batter has lost the trust of Coach Ricky Ponting as he failed to score a single half-century in 12 IPL innings. In this ongoing season of the Indian Premier League 2023, Shaw has played six matches and has scores of 12, 7, 0, 15, 0, and 13. The axe fell on him in the clash against SRH when Ponting said, "There are a lot of other players at the top of the order with other teams that are playing a whole lot better than Prithvi".

Shaw was one of the four players retained by DC before the mega IPL auctions in 2022. He has failed to live up to expectations, and his off-field problems have also made the situation more complicated. Ponting admitted that it was quite a difficult decision to drop Shaw, but he had no option because of his zero contribution at the top.

Ponting said, "It just came to the point where, yes, it was six games this season, but I think it was six or seven games at the back end of last season as well." I think it's been 12 games since Prithvi has made a fifty opening the batting for the Delhi Capitals, and if you look throughout the tournament, there are a lot of other players at the top of the order with other teams that are playing a whole lot better than Prithvi."
