After breach of conduct in IPL 2024, BCCI imposes heavy fine on Shreyas Iyer

The captain of Kolkata Knight Riders Shreyas Iyer has been hit with a huge fine after his team’s slow over rate during their thrilling IPL 2024 match against the Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

This marks the first offense of the season for KKR under the IPL’s Code of Conduct regarding minimum over rate offenses, resulting in a Rs 12 lakh fine for Iyer.
IPL organiser wrote in a statement, “Shreyas Iyer, the Kolkata Knight Riders captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens on April 17.”

“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Iyer was fined Rs 12 lakhs.”

While the on-field action stole the show, the match will also be remembered for a record-breaking chase by the Rajasthan Royals. Chasing a mammoth 224 set by KKR, Rajasthan equalled their own IPL record for the highest successful run chase, winning by a narrow two wickets.
