According to the report, the Ajit Agarkar-led panel is most likely going to pick KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant over Sanju Samson for the T20 World Cup squad.

The judgment day for those who are in the race for a selection into the Indian cricket team squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is coming near on Sunday, April 28. The chief selector of BCCI, Ajit Agarkar, is going to meet the captain of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma, in New Delhi on the sidelines of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League 0-24. Rohit is currently in Delhi for the upcoming match between the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals on Saturday at the ArunJaitley Stadium.

The discussions about the possible World Cup squad are growing more and more intense by the day because the IPL is providing several opportunities for experts and veterans to debate. One of the hot topics of discussion is the Wicket keeping role. As many as six players including Pant, Samson, KL Rahul, Kishan, Jitesh, and Jurel had entered this race for taking two possible spots in the squad of team India before the start of the IPL season 2024 by the end of the first half of the season. Jurel is out of this race because of the lack of runs for Rajasthan veteran cricketer Dinesh Karthik, who joined the race with a few cricketers like Ambati Rayudu backing his case.

After the end of the 41 matches in the ongoing season of the IPL, the captain of Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant, stands at the top of the run scoring chart with 342 runs in nine matches, which consist of three half centuries at a strike rate of 161.32. Samsung, who is the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, is in 2nd place with 3:14 runs in 8 matches, which consist of three half centuries at a strike rate of 152.42. The captain of the LucknowSupergiants, K.L. Rahul, is in third place with 287 runs in 7 matches and a strike rate of 140. Rahul is followed by Ishan Kishan with 192 runs in 8 matches and Karthik with 172 runs at an amazing strike rate of 29.75 in 4 innings.

According to a report, Pant has almost sealed his spot as the number one keeper and batsman of team India and is also a designated finisher for the team. Given the numbers mentioned above, Sanju Samson should be the second in the order, but according to the reports, Rahul holds a slight advantage over the star of Rajasthan because of his range of strokes.
