According to reports, the dynamic duo of Sanju Samson and Shubhman Gill is set to miss the T20 World Cup squad
Ahead of the mega announcement, reports claim that neither Shubman Gill nor Sanju Samson will make it to the 15-member squad. This is primarily due to the presence of other relevant players on the team.
Both Gill and Samson have been performing well in IPL 2024 so far. Adding more to their stocks, both are the captains of their respective sides. Even so, the abundance of players fighting for a spot on the team makes the inclusion of the power duo unlikely.
As per reports, India is expected to go out with Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jasiwal, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav as the top-order batters. Shubman Gill‘s spot in the Indian team has come under the scanner ever since the emergence of Yashasvi Jaiswal. And now, with just 15 members needed, it is nearly an impossible task for Gill to accumulate in the squad, forget the playing XI.
With the top order settled, Team India doesn’t need the requirement for a player of a similar dimension. Instead, the Men in Blue would be keen to go for specialist middle- and lower-order batters. This, in turn, paves the way for Rinku Singh to get a chance on the team.
