A two-minute pep talk by Suryakumar Yadav helped Kuldeep write history in Colombo
Kuldeep Yadav made history in the one-day internationals with yet another scintillating performance for Team India. A day after taking five wickets against arch-rivals Pakistan, the Chinese bowler returned impressive figures of 4 for 43 in 9.3 overs to help India storm into the Asia Cup 2023 final. Thus, Kuldeep took nine wickets in two games within 24 hours to become the quickest Indian spinner to reach the milestone.
Kuldeep, who was one of the prime contributors to India’s 41-run win, revealed how a 2-minute pep talk by teammate Suryakumar Yadav before the game helped him get going against the defending champions on Tuesday.
In his conversation, Kuldeep revealed, You gave a pep talk before the game and asked me not to lose the grip in this game. A bowler’s body language changes after bagging a five-for. He gets relaxed, but the confidence remains. It often happens with bowlers. So, those two minutes of pep talk really helped."
He further revealed, "I was determined to give my best, given that we were back on the field for the third straight day. So, thanks for that, Surya Bhai."
