Rahul was widely seen as India's potential wicketkeeper and batsman option for the title match against Australia in June, even with KS Bharat being in the team as the first-choice keeper.
However, farmer batsman Amol Muzumdar of the Indian Cricket Team feels that Rahul was never an option because the English conditions are harder for a wicketkeeper. He dropped Ishan Kishan's name as the player who could potentially make the playing 11.
Muzumdar said, "I'll stick with what I said. You need a genuine keeper who can bat a little. "It's okay for a T20 or 50-over match, but for a test, especially in England, where the ball nibbles around, you need a genuine keeper."
