Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi scripted history on Monday, hammering a 35 -ball century against Gujarat Titans to become the youngest batter to score a T20 ton and the second-fastest centurion in IPL history. The left-hander’s 101 off 38 balls (7x4, 11x6) powered RR’s chase of 210, overshadowing Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 50 and Jos Buttler’s earlier 26-ball half-century.
Suryavanshi, playing his third IPL game, annihilated GT’s attack, including Ishant Sharma (3 sixes in an over) and Karim Janat (30 runs in an over). His 17-ball fifty – the fastest of IPL 2025 – set the stage for a record Powerplay (87/0), RR’s highest ever. The Sawai Mansingh Stadium erupted as he reached his 100 in 35 balls, surpassing Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball record (2010) for fastest Indian IPL century.
At 14 years and 32 days, he shattered Vijay Zol’s 2013 record (18y 118d) as youngest T20 centurion. GT’s Subhman Gill (84 earlier) watched helplessly as Suryavanshi’s assault left RR needing 11 off 24 balls when he fell.
Records broken:
- Youngest IPL centurion
- Fastest Indian IPL century (35 balls)
- Second-fastest IPL century (after Chris Gayle’s 30-ball)
- Youngest T20 centurion globally
Bought for ₹1.1 crore in 2025, the Bihar-born batter – who debuted at 14y 20d – has redefined precocious talent, proving age is no barrier to cricketing genius.
